Passivating
A metallically pure surface will form a passive layer with oxygen automatically within a few days. However, this passive layer is just 2-4 nanometers thick. For parts that come under considerable chemical stress following pickling, we recommend passivation of the stainless steel.
Through passivation of stainless steel, Stalderfinish chemically speeds up the natural process and strengthens the corrosion resistence of the chromium oxide layer considerably.
